Statement of Faith

“Come now, and let us reason together, Saith the L-RD”
Isaiah 1:18a JPS

Introduction

Typically a person is looking for one of two things when going to this section of a religious website. They are looking for key words or statements that one can agree on or identify with. If that is not present the person will reject anything from the website. It doesn’t matter if the information is true or not. Yet on the other hand if that information is found everything in the website is taken as gospel truth.

Often they are used by the authors of a website, as an evangelistic tool. Believe or die. I have seen it used to put down “opposing” groups. Like down with the Catholics or down with the Pentecostals. Messianics used them to oppose each other as well.

I think the point has been made. We are avoiding these hang ups.

An Illustration

It should be our desire, our goal to finding G-d’s will in our lives. Not a consensus of belief.

The ancient sages of Israel have a simple illustration of what our walk should look like. I will paraphrase.

We hear HaShem calling us and we go and try to find the source of that voice. We come to the bush that we heard the voice come from and we don’t find Him. Then we hear His voice again accept this time His voice is coming from behind another bush. We get up and go to that bush. Again searching behind the bush we don’t find Him. He calls again and we search without finding Him and He calls again and we search again and so on.

HaShem’s desire is that we pursue Him. As he moves, He is moving us closer and closer to Himself. We don’t live near Him so He leads us. He will do this for our entire life time. He is not looking to torture us. But rather draw us closer to Him and transform us in the meantime so that we can make the next step.

It is our desire to not stop and get hung up. But rather keep on moving.

A destination or a journey?

We need to realize that our faith is not a destination. If someone comes and tells us that the final answer in what to believe he is a fool. HaShem is endless and his truth is endless and so is our walk endless.

I have seen many (99 times out of 100) simply say, “I have Jesus now” and go on living there life as before or simply go into a praise and worship in the spirit mode for the rest of their lives. This doesn’t draw a person near to HaShem. HaShem is constantly looking to teach us and train us to move on to the next level. Then move us to the next higher level and so on. Simply professing a name and we are “saved” is a destination not a journey.

Faith in Action

We need to put our faith in action. Faith is not only a belief but also an intellectual pursuit. Our mind is part of our soul. It is like the mouth of the soul. Our souls need to be fed so that our souls will not starve.

If we eat a big meal and say that is it we are fed for a lifetime. We would die very quickly. Our souls and minds need to be fed otherwise our souls will die.

What is food for the soul?

An obvious question now needs to be answered. What foods are we to eat that is appropriate for our minds to help our souls to be health?

I can give that to you in one word. However, I want to warn all of you. Many will not like the answer. The answer is TORAH! It is commonly and incorrectly translated as “LAW” in our Bibles.

Torah means “to hit the mark.” Sin means “to miss the mark.” It can also be translated as “guide to righteousness”. So did Jesus do away with our “guide to righteousness”?

Conclusion

Our faith statement is simply, “We believe in HaShem (G-d) and are in pursuit of Him”. If this is what you want then come in and join us.
